Excerpted from “WHO WERE THE ESSENES? – JESUS AND THE EXPERIENCE
WHICH REVEALED HIS MISSION” by Olivier Manitara:
“… Put life in first place, study life: that was the Essene technique.
Jesus practiced this technique. Where did his mission come from?
How, all of a sudden, did he understand the meaning of his life?
It took place in an Essene temple, which wasn’t an extraordinary
temple. It was made from small earthen bricks. It was very
austere, it was very simple, it was like something vaulted with clay.
It was made with clay which was plastered on the wall. On the ground,
there was beaten clay. There was a small skylight, a small square
window which didn’t even have any glass, which wasn’t even closed.
There was simply a small piece of fabric in front which could open and
close. There was no bed, there wasn’t any furniture. There
was just a mattress which was made of dried and plaited leaves. His
table was the things on the ground. Everything was in clay, it was
encrusted in the house.
The Master had taken two clay pots. He had put earth inside
them and he had gone to look for two plants. He was only young, he
must have been seventeen years old. Every day he went and stood before
these two plants and he watched them. He meditated in front of the
plants. He would go and look for water, he watered one plant, and
the other, he didn’t water. It’s a little unusual, but let’s say
it was like that! He meditated on the plant that he watered, he meditated
on the plant that he didn’t water. But he meditated life, he wanted
to enter into life, you see? He looked for life like every Essene
looks for life. Life in the first place. Life, life, life,
without stopping. He thought of nothing but that, life! He
saw the plant that he watered: it bloomed and the plant that he didn’t
water began to be in a very bad state, above all since it was very hot.
He entered into it and let it die. “What, and what’s more while meditating,
it’s shameful, it’s immoral!” But if you knew what science does today!
He had asked for authorization from these plants. He had said
to these plants: “We are going to do a job for God.” The plant dried
out and the Master watched it, he meditated, he understood many, so many
secrets. He understood the secret of prayer, because the plant prayed
to have water. He understood the secret of deprivation, the secret
of going without something, the secret of suffering. He saw how the
plant, in reality, developed energies. For example, he saw that the
plant which grew physically was very weak in the etheric body, in the spiritual
life. And the life of the plant which didn’t develop had a gigantic
aura. It’s quite some sacred experience, don’t you think?
The plant was dead, it had dried up, he had meditated and meditated.
The plant returned to the earth. He had meditated, the earth had
completely split and cracked, it had become completely dry. He had
meditated, he had watched, he had entered into it. It lasted a very
long time. Afterwards he went to look for water anew, they called
this “the water of the heart”. He watered the earth very gently with
the water of the heart. It was water inside which the Essenes placed
their heart. It was water which was both outer and inner. This
means that they had to transmit a strength from themselves which entered
into the water. He poured it into the pot. He watched it.
The earth dampened and the little seeds of the plant which had fallen on
the dry earth began to sprout. And after, the plant, once again,
revived with the water. And the Master understood that he was it,
the plant: he had to die so as to revive, to bring a strength of prayer
into the atmosphere of the earth, to lead men along with him, to know of
death and to be reborn to life. He understood his whole mission!
Read the Gospel and you will see that what I am telling you about this
experience that he had – which I have just touched on very quickly – has
so many implications!
Do you see the strength that the Essenes put into their practices?
And how they understand the secrets of life through little secrets like
that, to watch a plant wilt, of the importance of water and all these things?

Who is Olivier Manitara?
